What are the better neighborhoods in or surrounding Seattle?

I am thinking of moving my family to Seattle for the climate, better schools, diversity.

What are some areas I should look at? I am looking for basically good schools, a safe neighborhood, where I can get a house with a bigger lot size. What are the better neighborhoods in or surrounding Seattle?
In the city is simple. Any school north of the Ship Canal bridge is going to be at least decent, if not good or exceptional. Anything south is either going to be decent or terrible. That goes with safety as well. Anything north of the Ship Canal Bridge is safer than south. However, you want diversity. Once again with the SC Bridge... anything north is not as diverse, anything south is extremely diverse. I think that your best bet would be to look at neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Columbia City and Seward Park. I lived in the Seward Park neighborhood and would love to move back.

If you want rural, you could go with Puyallup. It's about an hour south of Seattle. There are farms and ranches, but you're close to Tacoma so you aren't completely out of touch.
Redmond, Washington is fantastic and is just outside of Seattle. They have amazing schools, low crime and lots of infrastructure. Its also where Microsoft is headquartered and where people like Bill Gates live. Otherwise, I would find a good real estate agent that you can trust and listen to their advice on the good up and coming neighborhoods. What are the better neighborhoods in or surrounding Seattle?
I think you should move into the city. If your going to move in the city, I would suggest Mt. Baker or Capital Hill. They are both safe and nice, etc.
Edmonds is very pretty, it's on the water and it's about 15 minutes north of Seattle. If you want something more rural you are going to have to go probably at least an hour outside of Seattle. Well I guess it all depends on your idea of rural, actually. But yeah, the rural parts are mostly to the northeast.
Good Seattle schools and neighborhood: Wallingford, Greenlake, Laurelhurst, Ballard, Queen Anne, Maple Leaf. Do you have money? Only way you are going to get a large house with a yard when you live in these places.

Decent neighborhoods with good schools and more house and land for your money...Shoreline, some parts of Northgate (gotta search though), Lake Forest Park (although some parts are downright pricey).
