What kinds of things can I do with my dog near Seattle, WA?

I have a two year old black lab who loves to go out and play. He likes going to dog parks, but he always ends up hurting his pads, so we can't do that very often. What other kinds of dog-friendly activities are there in/near Seattle? I live in an apartment, so it's always nice for me and my dog to get out and do something different and fun. What kinds of things can I do with my dog near Seattle, WA?
Just getting into advanced training classes can be really fun for you and your dog. And it's great when you reach a point where you can actually take what you have learned and get out to compete and show it off.

You can persue Competition Obedience, Agility, Dock Diving, Flyball and Frisbee.

For things like obedience and agility, once you've learned some things, there are usually matches held at some of the kennel clubs. A match is just like a trial, but costs less, you don't gain titles and is intended more for "ring practice" for you and your dog. But they are lots of fun to participate in.What kinds of things can I do with my dog near Seattle, WA?
I love taking my dogs for coffee... I sit and drink coffee at one of the sidewalk tables... the dogs get admired and petted.

The mall in Bellevue allows well-mannered dogs to walk up to the dog supply place on the second floor.

  • How many High school credits do you need to graduate in Seattle, Washington?

I live in Texas and may move my senior year to Seattle. How many High school credits do you need to graduate in Seattle, Washington?
    20 credits to graduate.

You also need to have a 2.0 GPA, pass the state High School Proficiency exam, complete a culminating project, create a "high school and beyond" plan, and perform 60 hours of community service.

But the specifics of these items are changing depending on what your graduating year is - over the next 3 years they are adding more required classes in math, expanding the sections of the proficiency exam you must pass to include math and science (in addition to reading/writing)

Try Anthony's or Ivar's for lunch.

Anthony's is a nice sit down and is a chain restaurant that is very popular throughout Seattle as a seafood restaurant with locals. It's reasonably priced for seafood as well, and it's great for lunch. It's located at 6135 Seaview Ave NW.

Ivar's is also a good spot for lunch. Ivar's is an icon of Seattle and is famous for their seafood. Ivar's can be fast food and there are sit down restaurants as well. For sit down, try Ivar's Acres of Clams. It's located on 1001 Alaskan Way, Pier 54. While it's a hot spot for nice dinners, it's also a good lunch spot as well. Can anyone suggest a nice but reasonably priced seafood reataurant in Seattle?

Plant and seed it indoors and leave it indoors in an area which has defused sunlight and keep it away from drafts and also air registers of forced air furnaces.

  • Is it worth my trouble to purchase a flight from Seattle to Tokyo?

I am a Canadian resident living in Vancouver BC, Canada. Seattle is a 3 hr drive away. On the Travelocity site I found that taking off from Seattle instead of Vancouver can save a few hundred dollars. First, is it possible for a Canadian to purchase a ticket for a flight to another country from Seattle, and second, what are the exemptions/restrictions one can bring back into the States, and then take back home into Canada? Any taxes need to be paid? Thanks in advance. Is it worth my trouble to purchase a flight from Seattle to Tokyo?
That is what I did. I saved about $180CDN. It is very worth it. I only ended up paying roughly $400 for my ticket(round trip)

I left from Seattle 3 years ago but I haven't come back yet. I am also from Vancouver :)

Are the Seattle Supersonics moiving to Oklahoma City? What have been the latest updates?

Where are they on getting a new arena in Seattle? I know they filed a suit against the Sonics, but I want to know as of right now, where it looks like this franchise is heading. Will it be in Oklahoma City or in a new arena in Seattle? Are the Seattle Supersonics moiving to Oklahoma City? What have been the latest updates?
Here's the Latest Fans are taking action to stop the Sonics and storm from Moving to OKC it was Posted today.

Fans Filing Lawsuit Against Owners Of Sonics, Storm

    POSTED: 12:24 pm PDT October 1, 2007

    UPDATED: 12:48 pm PDT October 1, 2007

SEATTLE -- Fans are filing a lawsuit a lawsuit against the owners of the Sonics and Storm basketball teams, claiming they were tricked into buying season tickets, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Fans said they feel betrayed by the recent actions of the teams’ owners, including a statement by one owner that the intention had always been to move the team to Oklahoma City as well as the recent act of filing for arbitration to break the lease that keeps the teams in Seattle until 2010.

The founder of the organization Save Our Sonics, Brian Robinson, helped facilitate the lawsuit, though he is not part of it.

“The purpose is to demand fair treatment and demand honesty,” said Robinson.

Fans cite the promise the Sonics’ Web site makes to season ticket holders – “a three-year guaranteed cost certainty that extends through the 2009-10 season.”

“The team, when they are asking for money, when they were petitioning their season ticket holders, made a very clear and unambiguous promise, a guarantee that was very strongly worded,” said Robinson.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit accuse the Sonics of breach of contract, intentional misrepresentation and violating the Washington Consumer Protection Act.

“I feel betrayed by the ownership. When I got my season ticket packet from the Sonics, I felt that they were going to make a true effort to keep these teams in Seattle. They have not,” said plaintiff Carolyn Bechtel.

With the city’s lawsuit to keep the Sonics at KeyArena, the lawsuit is the second legal action against the teams’ owners this week.
I think it's better if after the Nets go to Brooklyn in '10, then the Sonics should come to Jersey, and in Oklahoma City should have a team called the Oaks. Are the Seattle Supersonics moiving to Oklahoma City? What have been the latest updates?
I never heard about that but I stopped watching the NBA 10 years ago. I hope they stay just because it sucks when you're team leaves, I know from experience with the Browns. Maybe they can just add another team and put that in Oklahoma City.
Rumors have fallen off. I don't believe they'll go through wit it.
As of now it's hard to tell if the Sonics are moving to Oklahoma City.

There are numerous lawsuits being filed against the Sonics ownership group about them leaving.

Even though Key Arena (where the Sonics play) is a little over 10 years old supposedly there are talks to build a new arena about 30 miles south of Seattle on or near the Muckleshoot Indian reservation near their casino.

It would be a bad business move for the NBA since Oklahoma City is a smaller television market than Seattle. The NBA just had the lowest rated Finals in many years and I don't think this move would be help.

Why are women in Seattle so asexual and cold?

I moved to Seattle a couple months ago from the Southwest and I've noticed women in Seattle are extremely unfriendly, almost asexual. Why are they like this? What kind of way is that to go through life and not enjoy it by being so cold? Women in the Southwest actually flirt if they see a guy they like. Here, it seems they just stare at you and don't smile.

  • What is the traffic like in or aroudn the area of Seattle, Washington?

I've been doing some research lately on Seattle. I live in Wisconsin and am hopefully looking to move to Washington here in the next few years. Please help me. Does anyone know what the traffic might be like. Is it a good idea to drive there or am I better off to just fly. I know that the drive alone from Wisconsin to Washington is a little over 2000 miles but I am willing to travel by vehicle. If anyone has any answers that would be Excellent. Thanks. What is the traffic like in or aroudn the area of Seattle, Washington?
Other answers have agreed that traffic in and around Seattle, particularly on the freeways, is amongst the worst in the nation, and they're correct. It's that way for three reasons, and I say this both as someone who was born here and has lived here most of his life, and as someone who has lived in other countries: Traffic is bad here because of horrible traffic planning (main freeways and thoroughfares, street conditions, mediocre public transportation), overpopulation (people are moving into this state and especially this area from everywhere and are summarily clogging up the streets), and the third reason, which most people don't seem to realize or else disagree with, is because Americans, as a group, are horrible, horrible drivers... at least the ones around here are. People around here do not seem to know or care that left lanes are for PASSING, not for cruising or lollygagging around. If you do have to pass, more often than not you're forced to pass on the right; and half the time the offending driver will see you trying to pass and will speed up, probably due to some troglodytic ego. You shouldn't have to be forced to play the weaving game just to pass people, but you're forced to here. That, and drivers here are completely oblivious; most of them suffer from a condition I've come to refer to as "Thumb-in-Butt Syndrome". If you drive on the freeways around Seattle--especially during rush hour--you'll know why. It's illegal now to be holding a phone to your ear and be yacking away absentmindedly, but people still do it. It's illegal to plop your butt in the left lane without a need to pass, particularly if people are forced to pass on your right... but people here still do it. It's illegal to race people because you don't want to be passed... but people here still do it. It's illegal to dart back and forth between lanes without signaling, but people here still do it. It's illegal to pop into the HOV lanes for any reason if you're the only one in the car, but people here still do it. There are plenty of other examples, none of which are helped by the fact that we have so many rude or oblivious drivers--or both--around here. I've been to 22 countries, driven in 20 of them, and lived in 3 of them; and I can confidently say that of all of those countries, Americans are soundly at the bottom of the least in terms of quality, safety, and predictability as drivers, above only one other country's drivers: Iraq's. Even Kuwait, France, Italy, and many other countries that Americans would think have terrible drivers, have far better drivers than we do. I'm serious about this; if all of the drivers in and around Seattle drove exactly like Germans, for example, even with the poor quality of roads, bad planning, and amount of people on the road, we probably wouldn't have the problems we have now every day, including traffic jams--or at least nowhere near as severe, not to mention not nearly as many accidents. I'm sure more than a few people who read this will likely disagree with me; but I question how much experience they actually have driving in other countries (going on the occasional vacation here and there doesn't give you insight into another country's driving culture).
I live near there. It really all depends it can take me anywhere from a half hour to 3 hours to get to seatle. It really depends on the time of day and if there are any accidents or road work. What is the traffic like in or aroudn the area of Seattle, Washington?
I live just north of Seattle. Washington is one of the most beautiful states there is. Seattle is one of the most awesome cities there is however, the traffic SUCKS!!
I live in Tacoma, but I have often commuted to Seattle and Bellevue. The traffic is absolutely horrendous. On a day with no traffic, just a steady flow of vehicles, it only takes me 45 minutes to get from Tacoma to Seattle. During rush-hour, it can take upwards of two hours to get home.
Seattle Traffic is one of the worst in the nation. Our roads were planned poorly and because of it we have a very bad traffic issue on the freeways and in the city and surrounding cities.
Well you can drive from Wisconsin to Washington if you want...But I wouldn't recommend you driving in Seattle because it's really really busy. Don't get me wrong, Seattle is a really great place to live if you like being able to experience new things. But it's mainly industries in Seattle and apartments. So uh...drive to Washington but don't drive in Seattle.
Well, if you are talking about the drive from Wisconsin to Washington, I think that you should definitely take the drive instead of the plane. It's just such a more enjoyable experience and you really get to see the land instead of just flying over in a few hours and arriving. There will be long stretches without much of anything or traffic along the way. You can run 90 all the way or 94 onto 90 and take the long stretch over. It's a great experience to stop at smaller towns along the way and really see the country.

Once you get to Seattle, traffic is not great. Further, traffic can be downright awful. It's going to depend on where you live, where you commute to, and what time you need to make those commutes, but if you are working during normal business hours in and around Seattle, you can expect a good bit of traffic along your commute. I've got hopes that the public transit system will continue to improve and we will be able to implement better solutions for public transit, so hopefully in a few years, there will be better options or at the least, better bus coverage, which is already pretty good in most heavily-trafficked areas.

I'd suggest stopping in Seattle to visit the Space Needle and Seattle Center. Did Steve Hutchinson leaving Seattle cause Shaun Alexander to become mediocre?

Hutch left Seattle and Alexander hasn't had a good season since. Now Adrian Peterson looks like the second coming of Walter Payton. Is this a coincidence?Did Steve Hutchinson leaving Seattle cause Shaun Alexander to become mediocre?
I think it's the curse of the contract year. Alexander had a contract year last year, played like crazy to get his $$, and now between injuries and offensive changes, he's frankly coasting. Half these injuries he would have played through last year. This year? He's not as worried because he got his already.

All he's doing is screwing me in fantasy football! *ick*

games are won in the trenches. if qb's don't have 4 seconds in the pocket, will they be successfull? if the OL does not provide the lanes, will the running game be successfull? no. Minnesota has an excellent OL, i would know as a Packer fan, we have to play them twice a year.
actually yes in this case, cause after he left the whole offense went bad, with 3 of there other starters now retiring due to injury, and the offense getting so banged up now.
Actually, yes, it is coincidence, for the most part. Alexander is all beaten up, he's about 30 (the age at which most RBs' skills completely die), and Peterson is quite talented and just entering his prime.

Hutchinson has something to do with Peterson's early successes and Alexander's decline, but the facts that Peterson is gifted and that Alexander is aging and losing most of his talent has even more to do with it.

Change your major as soon as possible!!!

Warning%26gt; Jobs in the field of Law are drying up fast!! This no longer is a good field to invest time and/or money into. This is a SHRINKING, crumbling, and dying vocational field. Many, many reasons: We now have computers. So, many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work, thanks to the Internet and legal books. Also, there are a lot of companies out there making very efficient legal software for the field of Law. Today's graduating lawyers tend to be very computer savvy, so they just do the work themselves to save themselves the cost of overhead - they aren't hiring legal staff. Also, the "Public" buys this legal software/law books in order to get legal work done without the expense of an Attorney. Also, we simply already have way too many Legal Professionals - we just have an absolute glut!! We simply already have way too many Legal Professionals. AND the legal profession is dramatically changing: it is in absolute CRISIS! And, every year, more and more people graduate from law school, but there are fewer and fewer jobs. Even the largest and most reputable law firms are experiencing unprecedented cutbacks. I don't expect the situation to improve in the coming years.....Even Associate Justice Antonin Scalia (who served on the U.S. Supreme Court for more than 20 years) says there are too many lawyers. Why are the following Seattle neighborhoods so sketchy after dark?

From what I heard and read, the following neighborhoods are places to be careful walking after dark:

    -Seattle Center

    -Belltown

    -Downtown/Pioneer Square

    -UW District

-Rainier Valley or Rainier Beach ???

Q: is the crime as bad as adervtised, or mostly hype?

Q2: What types of crimes are we talking about here, and how frequent?

Q3: Have you had any bad experiences in those places?

Thanks for your help! Why are the following Seattle neighborhoods so sketchy after dark?
Seattle Center has quite a few homeless around there. Belltown has a lot of the same. Pioneer Square is filled with homeless that maybe on unknown drugs. Rainier Beach has a lot of Gang Activity. Seattle Center, Belltown and U-District is actually that bad.

How long does it take to get from Alaska to Seattle by plane?

From Anchorage to Seattle it takes a little over 3 hours on a commercial jetliner. Obviously it would take longer with a smaller prop plane. I have made the trip 5 times and each time is was just a little over 3 hours.

How do I find an airline ticket, one way to Seattle from Detroit, under $200 in less than 5 days?

My son is leaving the Army and would like me to help drive his belongings from Seattle, WA to Detroit MI. This could be one of our last trips together. How do I find an airline ticket, one way to Seattle from Detroit, under $200 in less than 5 days?
your only possible way would be to see if you could somehow get an Army or Gvot discount for the flight.

Otherwise you will not find anything even close to that cheap.
The cheapest is $479 sorry, 200 bucks is impossible for a route of that length. How do I find an airline ticket, one way to Seattle from Detroit, under $200 in less than 5 days?
That airline would be called Greyhound and it flies pretty slowly and close to the ground.
I see $309 if you take Northwest to Chicago Midway, then Frontier via Denver from there. You might try to do better with Priceline.
If you are flexible on times, there is priceline.com.

You don't know what flights %26amp; times you get, but you can get a cheap fare.

When you bid, it either accepts your bid and tells you when you are flying, or rejects it. You CANNOT change this. If you miss this flight, you are out of luck.
I found it WITH taxes for only $180.80. It is leaving Monday Feb. 5th, which is 7 days from now. Any day before that it is in the $300s. Good luck!

  • What's a really good vintage store in the seattle area?

I live in a town near Seattle, but far enough away I'm not familiar with the city. There aren't any vintage stores in my town, so I was wondering if anyone knew any. And I mean real vintage not mass produced thin cloth that cost forty bucks. I would really appreciate any suggestions, Thanks :)What's a really good vintage store in the seattle area?
I'm not sure which town you live in near Seattle, but my daughter likes to buy vintage clothing, and some of her favorite stores in Seattle are the following:

    Pretty Parlor - (206) 405-2883 - http://www.prettyparlor.com/

Red Light Vintage Clothing - University District store at (206) 545-4044 and Capitol Hill store at (206) 329-2200 - http://www.redlightvintage.com/

    Crossroads Trading - (206) 328-5867 - http://crossroadstrading.com/cm/Store_Lo鈥?/a>

Le Frock - (206) 623-5339 - http://www.lefrockonline.com/ This store is a little more expensive than the others, but it has a good selection of *designer* vintage clothing.

The Anne Bonny - (206) 382-7845 - http://www.theannebonny.com/ This store sells vintage furniture, but it sometimes has good vintage clothing.

I truly hope this is helpful! Happy Shopping! :-)

What are Universities in Seattle,Washington with classes for Forensic Chemistry?

What are colleges in Seattle; that offer Forensic Chemistry as a class? I was looking at Sam Houston State University %26amp; they dont have that all they have is Forensic Science. What are Universities in Seattle,Washington with classes for Forensic Chemistry?
Seattle University offers a BS in Criminal Justice with emphasis on forensic science, but they specifically say that this degree is not intended to prepare you for a career in a forensic science lab.

Eastern Washington University does offer a BS in forensic chemistry. That is it for the state of Washington.

Hi! To get the best deals, you can explore different travel portals that offer flight tickets from many airlines such as Sprice.com etc, that include budget airlines in their selection.Where is the best place to find lowest airfare from Seattle to South Carolina?
I'd fly to Charlotte NC, which is about 90 miles away, and drive down. You can easily find fares from Seattle to Charlotte (CLT) for under $300.

  • What are some good (and/or cheap) places to eat in Seattle, around the Seattle Center?

Im planning a trip to the seattle center area. I know the tourist-y sites pretty well, but I dont actually live in Seattle, so I do not know that many good places to eat. I'm a little bored with the food court in the Seattle Center/Pacific Science Center area, what else is good (and/or nearby and affordable)? What are some good (and/or cheap) places to eat in Seattle, around the Seattle Center?
Dick's is a cheap, quick, and tasty chain of burger joints in the greater Seattle Metro area - California has In-N-Out, Seattle has Dick's. There's one right by the Seattle Center.

Can a family of five live comfortably on 40,000 dollars a year in the greater seattle area?

I am planning on moving to Seattle in the next 9 to 12 months and I am curious if $ 40K is a reasonable lower level salary when taking care of a family of fiveCan a family of five live comfortably on 40,000 dollars a year in the greater seattle area?
That would put you below the poverty level here so absolutely not!
The cost of living in Seattle is pretty high. It depends on what standard of living you expect to have, but $40,000 per year for a family of five will be difficult since the average annual income per person is over $30,000. If you want to rent a 3 or 4 bedroom house or apartment it will probably cost about $1,000-$2,000 per month for your housing costs alone. To buy a 3 or 4 bedroom house in a decent neighborhood will probably cost about $300,000 even in the current depressed housing market. Food and gas are also expensive. Can a family of five live comfortably on 40,000 dollars a year in the greater seattle area?
No way, average income is like 60 thou, most ppl make more. To support a family of five off that much will be very difficult. Most single ppl making that much with only themselves to support would have a difficult time. You would have to move to cheaper neighborhoods that are less desirable. Rent for a one bedroom in the city is close to one thousand to two a month, so for five or even four you wouldn't be able to afford city living.

I suggest finding a better paying job, and or government help, because not to sound mean, but that income would be considered poverty here, especially for that many dependants.

My friend was making over 50 thou just for herself and manage not to be able to save a dime in two years. But she also eats out everyday....

Good luck, search around and you probably can find a cheaper area going south or north. Also find a better paying job.

Also no house is 300,000 here unless you are out of the Seattle area or in a cheap condo.

To live 30 miles away houses in this area according to the size of your family range from $450,000 to over a million.
moving to a town or city outside of Seattle may be your best bet, you can always commute if you plan on working downtown, and if your income increases with your new job you can always think about relocating closer to the city then. Seattle is getting to be very pricey, but there are a lot of great cities on the outskirts you just got to look a little.
What is comfortable for one person might be considered 鈥榣iving high on the hog鈥?or even 鈥榙estitute鈥?by another. For my standard of living, there is no way I could make due on $40,000 per year divided over 5 people. For the sake of comparison, I am married and have 3 kids 鈥?so I鈥檓 a family of 5. We own a modest home in the Seattle suburbs, drive late 90鈥檚 cars (that we own outright) and all three kids play select or premier level soccer. Our combined income is approximately $120k per year and it鈥檚 tight - sometimes VERY tight.
    Absolutely not.

You could "get by" in E WA for $40K, but not in the Puget Sound Region, particularly when you consider a dependable vehicle, medical expenses, college savings, a retirement fund, booz, tobacco...

Your housing, (rent, utils., insurance) would easily take half of the $40. And, don't forget every time you buy groceries, an auto, or any consumer goods, you pay 9.5% sales tax on the purchase!

Please stay where you are. As a taxpayer, I know I would have to subsidize your existence here...(housing, food stamps, medical coupons, etc.)
What do you mean by comfortably? You can live on that, but you won't have the biggest home or the fanciest car. You'll have to budget. But that really shouldn't be a bad thing. When I was growing up six of us lived in a 1200 sq ft home with one bath and three bedrooms. Didn't have fancy stuff. Yet, I don't remember being uncomfortable.
Like all areas, depends on where. The Greater Seattle Area has a fairly large range. If Seattle is in your address at all, no. One person can barely live on that in Seattle. In Renton, Auburn, Kent, Tacoma.... the cheaper areas, yes. It will still be a tight budget, but it's doable.
Family means more than 1 so I would say NO you could not live comfortably on $40,000. The housing alone is going to kill you. I'm not saying you couldn't do it, but you would have to live on the outskirts of town.
Use this relocation calculator... without knowing where you are now I couldn't get results but here is the link:

Is the economy in Seattle (especially IT field) as bad as many other parts of the country?

I'm planning on moving to Seattle within the next couple of years and was wondering if the economy has been profoundly affected. Has the housing prices changed? Is the economy in Seattle (especially IT field) as bad as many other parts of the country?
Yeah, it is... jobs are tight here, but it's not as bad as California. The whole reason I moved back up here was because I lost work down there...

There's a lot of tech work up here with companies like Microsoft and Real and all those guys, but then, Microsoft laid off thousands of people a few months ago, so competition is gonna be fierce. I'd make sure that you have the job set in stone before you move.

Housing and rental prices here have fallen somewhat. The place I'm in here costs $1095/mo (really nice, 1000 sq/ft remodeled 2-bed with a palatial living room in Maple Leaf with a huge deck), but we're probably gonna move again this summer because prices fell a couple hundred bucks or so per month. Is the economy in Seattle (especially IT field) as bad as many other parts of the country?
The economy is down, but not nearly as much as some areas of the country. Housing is down, but not nearly as much as elsewhere.

One of the big things protecting the economy is the Boeing and aerospace industry in the region. Aerospace tends to trail the economy by 2-3 years, so the industry is just now starting to feel the pinch of the economy. It just takes a while for the slow down in the economy to translate into less people on airplanes, then translate into less airlines buying new planes. The downside is that its likely that the area hasn't seen the worst of the economy yet. Aerospace is also slow to recover when the economy goes back up, because after a big downturn, airlines need 2-3 good years before they can afford to start buying new planes again.

As for IT, its down, but not as bad as many industries in many areas. Microsoft had some layoffs, but they amounted to only a very small fraction of total employees. The thing about IT is that there are tons of companies across all industries that hire a few IT people. If those companies are hurting, they're more likely to squeeze the IT department and hold off on technology upgrades.

Anyone have any ways for me to save money on a trip to seattle?

My husband and i are planning a 2 day trip to Seattle next month, we are planning on going to the amusement park there in Tacoma, but for the 2 days we are there it looks to be about $600 this includes him and I and our twin 19mo old girls, which the hotel that we are looking into they will be staying free. If anyone has been to Seattle could you give us some hints on how to save a little money.Anyone have any ways for me to save money on a trip to seattle?
I live in Seattle and I get around mostly on my bike these days and bussing it, so I've been pretty picky about living on the cheap.

While you are in Seattle, you can bus it pretty much all around the downtown area and withing most of the metro downtown area is a "Ride Free Zone" that allows you to ride the bus in that area for free (in an attempt to reduce driving/parking in the downtown region). There's an amusement park right next to downtown Seattle called the Fun Forest which has rides, but I'd imagine you are talking about the Enchanted Village (Six Flags) which is further south in Federal Way. You could also get public transit down to there and save yourself a bundle in car rentals (taxi from downtown to Federal Way would be a bit absurd as it's about 45 minutes-1 hour drive south.

Saving money on the hotel will depend on what you have planned and if you already have selections made on where to stay. If you do, it will have to be a matter of negotiating the best price at that place, otherwise you can still shop around. I don't really want to make what are usually some of my more recommended "stay on the cheap" locales for you with twin 19 month old girls (not that they're not safe, but I just wouldn't know how safe I'd feel if I had children that age and I was going to stay at some of these places, otherwise, they're all good). There's plenty of resources out there to shop around for cheap hotels anyways to get a bargain. If you find cheap hotels nearer to the airport, it might be worth it to you to stay there, even though it's a bit south of downtown Seattle, as you can catch a single bus north to downtown for $1.25-1.75 depending on when you're riding, if that doesn't bother you. It also puts you closer to Federal Way, where there's the other amusement park and also public transit to Tacoma if that was where you meant to be going.

Aside from that, free options like walking tours of Pike Place Market and the Seattle Center Grounds (where the Space Needle/Key Arena/Pacific Science Center/Experience Music Project/Fun Forest are located) and the pier are great sightseeing sorts of activities that will only cost for when you want to grab a bite to eat or a souvenir to take along. Also, on the piers, there are ferries going to a number of different places and the ferry rides are cheap if you are not driving a car on with you. They are a wonderful ride even if you just ride and come back, or check out Bremerton, Vashon Island, and Bainbridge! Bring your camera as in the summer, when the weather is nice, waterfront shots are absolutely gorgeous!Anyone have any ways for me to save money on a trip to seattle?
go on a walking tour instead of a paid tour on wheels...it teaches you more about the city...and hey, dont forget to shop at the pike place market for cheap souvenirs instead of going to classy shops.... you can also ride the buses for just 2.50 per day (get a day pass) and you can use it over and over again....have fun exploring seattle!!

A great spot for a light meal and drinks is the Virginia Inn on 1st and Virginia, a block up from where Pike Place Market meets Victor Steinbrueck Park.

How many days does it take to drive from Seattle to San Francisco?

My boyfriend and I are visiting Seattle next year and driving to San Fran, how long does it take and where is the best place to stay over? How many days does it take to drive from Seattle to San Francisco?
You can easily do it in one day. I have driven straight through from Seattle to San Fran many times - as long as you leave at 5-6am to beat rush hour, you can get in to San Fran by 10pm ( if you take 1-5 all the way down).

For some good, centrally located and cheap lodging in San Fran, try the Mosser (you can look it up on Expedia). I stay there every time and it's fabulous.
depends on who is your companionHow many days does it take to drive from Seattle to San Francisco?
    40 days and 40 nights.
It takes a CAR to drive from Seattle to San Francisco....sheesh.
    www.map.com has the answers.
823 miles, 11 hours 47 minutes. of course that is refueling while still moving. no food or restroom brakes and don't stop for red lights. traffic conditions will slow you down too. the best place to stay over. implies you are very rich. can't help there. I check out prices and try to get a good deal.
It takes two days and you stop over in Ashland, Oregon at Romeo's Bed and Breakfast - you need a reservation. You eat at one of the two French Restaurants in Ashland.

If you take the Coast Road - the trip will take longer.
I would say, 2 1/2 days. I've driven from Seattle, to Los Angeles before.
    2 days
You can easily do it in two days, 8 hours each day or you could take your time and do it in 3 days. How long it takes really depends on what kind of traffic you hit in Seattle, Portland %26amp; San Fran...but it could take anywhere from 15-18 hours.

There aren't too many places to stay at the mid-point, Medford is a little far south %26amp; Eugene is a little far north.
If you go to www.mapquest.com and enter your from and to destination, it will map it out and give you the mileage. I'm pretty sure if you drive it straight thru you can make it in a day.
For an easy and pleasant drive, where you can see a few sights along the way, 2 days. A good place to stay overnight would be Ashland, Oregon if you are taking I-5. You can also take a road from around that area to Highway 101, and go the rest of the way down the coast, which i would recommend if you like scenery, and stop to see the redwoods.

If you want to take highway 101 through both Oregon and California, then get off of I-5 at Kelso, WA, go to the oregon side, and take the road to Astoria, then down i-5. Stay the night in Yachats, OR, its a lovely quaint little town, about a half hour or so south of Newport.

If you are in a hurry and have two drivers, then head straight down I-5 and you could probably do it in 14 hours with a few stops for fuel, food, etc. Not recommended, but possible.
Seattle to San Francisco, 13 hours actual driving time.

Why get it in Seattle. You'll be needing to take care of the tattoo while it's healing and do you want to do that while away from home?

And what is reasonable to you? Some people won't pay a dime for a tattoo, while others will spend thousands.Where can I get a good, professional tattoo in Seattle for a reasonable price?
Good tattoos are not reasonably priced. :( You get what you pay for. At least I have yet to find a place that does good tattoos for a reasonable price.

What is the coolest, most walkable part of Seattle?

I'm a San Franciscan who has to move to Seattle for a year. I'm looking for a place to live in Seattle. Needless to say, San Francisco is stunning, friendly, and WALKABLE (or at least covered by street trams); my hope is I can find the same kind of neighborhood in Seattle - you can probably sense I hate cars and I think parking lots are ugly. What's your recommendation? And thanks. What is the coolest, most walkable part of Seattle?
queen ann is walk and bus frendly

    and capital hill is to
Most of Seattle is walkable. Pike Place Market, The sea-front by the ferry terminals to Sculpture Park, Pioneer Square, The International District get on a bus to Capitol Hill and walk to Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves. West Seattle's Alki Beach the list goes on.

Sooooooooooo many places to walk it's great. What is the coolest, most walkable part of Seattle?
I think from Pike Place down to the piers is a great walking area that is just beautiful! In terms of living, there are a lot of places that are pretty nice, but exactly what sort of neighborhood and price ranges are you looking for?
The Pike Market and the fish market, there are so many shops and stuff to look at and then walk from there all the way down to the area where they give underground Seattle tours. There's a lot of interesting things there. Also along the warf is a nice place to walk.
A lot of seattle is walkable but I recomend around the Space Needle and the small theme park thing right next to it.

  • Do people in Seattle sing the ching chong song whenever they see Asians?

I live in CO and in Denver and Boulder, people seem to do that wherever they see Asians, or run up and say hey Bruce Lee or yell Konichiwa (not in a nice way). It's not so bad because I usually have a nice come back like-Hey Chris Tucker, or something. But I am getting tired of being on guard all the time. I just would like to know if Seattle is nicer, and would be less likely to have such encounters.Do people in Seattle sing the ching chong song whenever they see Asians?
I'm not Asian, but I've never seen anyone do something rude like that to an Asian person. I suppose there might be some idiots somewhere that might, but there are a lot of Asian people in Seattle, so someone would get pretty worn out trying to do that to every Asian person they saw.Do people in Seattle sing the ching chong song whenever they see Asians?
im from seattle and it's something everyone is just used to. its probably because there are so many asians in seattle. mostly koreans.

people are just jealous that they can't be asian too. and just the whole asian groups kind of promote the whole thing. o.o

Is it absolutely necessary to have a car in Seattle?

I'm planning on getting a job in downtown Seattle. My work hours will be standard M-F 8am-5pm. I plan on living in either the UDistrict or Capitol Hill. Can I rely on walking %26amp; taking the bus? Or is a car necessary? Is it absolutely necessary to have a car in Seattle?
One of my friends that moved up from Florida after I did spent his first two years here without a car. He walked, took buses and got around just fine. And when he wanted a car to get out of town or go to IKEA and buy things too big to carry he just rented one. Later he got the "Flexcar" plan where people share cars. Seattle has a great mass transit system and yes - tons of people exist perfectly fine here without vehicles.

Parking is also a (bleep) in downtown Seattle - most apartments have limited space and charge a monthly fee for parking - so having a car when you live downtown can be very expensive. Where you work may charge for parking as well - so you'll save money by getting there by foot/bus.
I live near downtown Seattle and own a car. Even though I work odd hours outside of the city, I find taking the bus much more convenient than driving for everyday activities. In fact, I mostly use my car only to leave the city on weekends.

Three of my friends have lived in the city for many years without a car. In any neighborhood downtown you are sure to find all the necessities (groceries, banks, coffee, etc) within an easy walking-distance, and the bus will get you everywhere else. Occasionally I take taxis at night, which I have found very reasonable.

If you live in the vicinity and work 8-5 downtown, taking the bus to work is the way to go. It would probably be just one short ride, and you won't have to deal with traffic and parking. Is it absolutely necessary to have a car in Seattle?
My brother and grandson have lived in Seattle for 9 years without a car. So it is possible. there was a company that lets you share a vehicle for short trips but I'm not sure they still exist. Makes it handy when you want to get a big supply of groceries or wnt to take friends to dinner. More power to you.

Also consider Bremerton on Winslow. Small towns with direct ferries to the downtown. rents are cheaper but you'll not have the night life and you will have the daily ferry expense. a lot of people do it, tho'.
Take the bus! Seattle has a great bus system. It's only about $40/mo. for an unlimited pass, and they have a ton of routes and they're very timely. Especially in the neighborhoods you mentioned, you'll be fine, even better, without a car. Parking a car in either of those areas is a nightmare...
If you live in the city and have all your needs met in the city, then you could probably do fine with public transportation.
In your situation a car is nice but you can manage without one if you must.
No not in your case but you might want to get a bicycle.....waiting on the bus gets old after a while.

What is the song in the movie Battle in Seattle from minute 16:15?

I just saw the film Battle in Seattle on BBC iPlayer and absolutely loved it. The song around 16min 15s was totally up my alley and I simply cannot find which song it is. It is not in the OST lists on the web and I am out of ideas of where to look. Any ideas? What is the song in the movie Battle in Seattle from minute 16:15?
The music in the film is by Robert Del Naja and Neil Davidge. Del Naja is in Massive Attack and Davidge is co-writer/producer of Massive Attack.

The soundtrack work was credited as Neil Davidge and Robert Del Naja in an effort to differentiate the soundtrack/film scoring work from the brand name of Massive Attack.

With this info you might be able to track down that particular song you are searching for.

    Good Luck.

How long will it take to travel to Seattle?

    Hi :)

I live in New York but will soon be travelling to Seattle, Washington to visit a few friends who have just moved close by. I was just wondering, how long does it take to drive to Seattle from New York? And how long to fly?

My boyfriend is driving there whereas I am flying. I will be leaving after him as he will be meeting me in Seattle so we need to know the length of time it would take for each.

What are the best areas in Seattle to live in?

I'm trying to find a good area in Seattle to live in that is affordable for a 20 almost 21 year old. That has no real experience in the work and college worlds. But also close to the city, and community colleges. Like in central Seattle. I know this is a stupid question but I need to know because I've never been there. What are the best areas in Seattle to live in?

Where can I find a recycling plant in the Seattle area that will except Aluminum cans for money?

I want to know Where I can find a recycling plant in the Seattle area that will except Aluminum cans for money. I've searched on the web for a long time and can't find anything.I mean I want to make a few bucks of the soda cans that I drink because If i can get money for something useless to me then I want in on it!Where can I find a recycling plant in the Seattle area that will except Aluminum cans for money?
The last I knew, Alcoa was paying for them some time ago. With much of the area recycling through their garbage hauling systems, there is not as much opportunity for individuals. The curb side and other recycling systems are turning those cans in, for money, to help off-set their recycling set-up and operational costs. This has affected the market for individuals in a number of different ways.

Also, check with the metal recyclers or metal scrappers. As of 5 (maybe plus) years ago, some were still paying for aluminum cans; and more so for those in South King, North Pierce. One of the issues in the area is that once municipalities started recycling metals and other materials, many of the individual scrappers began to get squeezed out of the market.
With the popularity of curbside recycling, people are paying recyclers to take their recyclables including aluminum cans so why would anyone pay you for your cans when other people are paying them to take their cans?Where can I find a recycling plant in the Seattle area that will except Aluminum cans for money?
Try the nearest junkyard. Oh and I'm sure you mean accept not except.
Click that big link at the bottom of my answer for a google map of seattle that has "metal recycling" searched. Call up one of these places durring their business hours and ask what they prices are. Shop around until you find the yard that pays the best price or is closest to your home; whichever makes this more profitable for you. Then when you bring the cans into the yard, they will weigh them in and pay you according to weight.

Aluminum cans can be easily sold for money. The price you are payed is usually very little, because aluminum cans weigh almost nothing. It takes 32 aluminum cans to make a pound. The current price of aluminum cans at a scrap yard is between .50-.75 cents per pound. So if you save up 60 cans, you will get at least $1 but no more than $1.50.

There are much more valuable things that can be sold to a scrap yard ( aka metal recycler). Copper is $3/pound. regular aluminum is about $.50 per pound. Lead is at least $.25 and mixed steel is $.09 per pound. You will find it much easier to accumulate 1 pound of copper than you will you accumulate 1 pound of aluminum cans. A decent few pounds of phone chargers would get you close to 4 dollars based on the copper wire content and the transformer in its base. For example, a car battery, which is mostly lead, can be sold to a scrap yard as is for $5-$8 solely for it's metal content.

Broken appliances, car parts, computer parts, and anything made of even partly metal (ie a broken vacuum cleaner) can be sold to a scrap yard for money based on its metal content.

How long does it take from Sacramento California to Seattle Washington?

How long does it take from Sacramento California to Seattle Washington? (By driving) (I-5)

And what is weather and road condition like in between late December and early January. How long does it take from Sacramento California to Seattle Washington?
Ballpark guess is that it is about 700 miles (give or take). You will be traveling in the Winter, and there are mountainous areas of Northern Cal, and Oregon, however you will be on one of the busiest Interstate highways on the West coast, and the authorities make great efforts to keep the road open.

Both Oregon, and California have 24/7 toll free Highway Information hot lines. California's number is 1-800-427-6723. Don't remember Oregon's number.
There are about 620 miles between Sacramento and Seattle. If you were driving 70 miles per hour, it would take about 9 hours. If you were driving 60, it would take about 10 hours.

It's around 30/40 degrees in Seattle in December and January. It rains often, but it doesn't rain as much as people say it does...

The roads are okay. People drive slow in Seattle :/ As for Sacramento, It's not very cold there, either.

Hope I helped! How long does it take from Sacramento California to Seattle Washington?
Do you "have" to drive it because you're moving up here or are you just visiting? If you're just visiting then why not fly? I flew recently from Seattle to Sacramento on Alaska Airlines and it was only $150 roundtrip and I was there in an hour and a half! Driving would be over 750 miles and 12 hours! Gas alone would cost you as much as $200 round trip!

edit: 620 miles? Maybe as the "crow files" but driving it is 754.3 miles up I-5.

I want to buy my mom tickets to a fun show for Christmas. Do you have any suggestions for plays coming to Seattle or Tacoma in January/Feb. ?What are good theatre or play suggestions for the Seattle/Tacoma area?
Peter Pan will still be playing at Seattle Children's Theater in January. They always put on great productions.

South Pacific is playing at the 5th Avenue in January as well.

There are a few weekend runs of show at the Paramount that include Annie.

Personally I'd go see Peter Pan. I might be a little bias because it's one of my favorite shows, and a friend is in the production. What are good theatre or play suggestions for the Seattle/Tacoma area?
So much theater to choose from!

Here is the best site for looking at what plays are running at any given time. You can search by day/month and it's very easy to see what's available. There are about 25 plays listed for January.

And one of my favorite places to go, anytime of year, is Teatro Zinzanni. If you've never been there, it is truly unique. It is dinner theater so you are served a 5-course meal designed by chef Tom Douglas. The show is done under an authentic circus tent (but inside a building) and they do a variety show - singing, LOTS of acrobatics (like Cirque de Soleil), comedy, and magic sometimes. It's a very intimate theater so you're close to everything. I always take visiting family there and they love it, plus just my husband and I go with friends. It's really fun. Here is their website: http://dreams.zinzanni.org/

Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle?

Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle? Free or cheap would be great. We are going there for a very full weekday of activities.Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle?
    OMG OMG, I KNOW ONE!!!

I do...lol, sorry, my friend and I were on this very mission a couple of days ago. We just drove all over the place looking for the cheapest one, and we decided that the parking near the space needle was the cheapest. There is a good lot next to the music project building that is $8 for two hours, There is also like $20 for all day or something. But, it's a good spot because there are a lot of people around (less theft worries) and it's next to the monorail (which is $2, $4 both ways) which takes you right to Westlake Center.

If your going with a group, you can ask everyone to cough up an equal split for the parking, and it turns out to only be a couple of bucks for everybody. :)

Careful of the meters, because as soon as no-parking time hits, tow trucks and cops move in for the kill. The tow trucks line up down by pike and wait for the exact second, then they take half a block in one go. Just...beware of them.

    Hope this helps :)
you just have to drive around for an hour until you find a good parking place.

i hate driving in western washington, especially on I-5. glad I don't live in WA anymore.Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle?
You probably aren't going to find a free place to park, but there are a couple of things you can do to keep the cost down. Many of the large public parking garages have an early bird special - if you arrive before 9am you can park all day for one flat fee which is much cheaper than the hourly rate. Street parking is relatively inexpensive if you are only parked for a couple of hours or so and there is a limit to how long you can stay parked in one spot. Some of the unenclosed public parking lots are more affordable than the garages, too. But any way you go, you'll have to pay something.

Your best bet is to arrive early and get an early bird special for the day. The sign for the garage will specify if they offer one.
Nothing is free in Seattle, especially downtown. If you鈥檙e planning a full day of activities, use mass transit or a cab to get to the city. All day parking downtown can run $30 and up. When I need to have my car downtown, I park in the Bank of California building. I've never had a problem with damage or attempted break-in there. Street-side parking usually has a 2 hour limit so you鈥檇 have to come back to your car and move it or get a new parking permit. The further away from downtown you get, the less expensive parking is.

If you live in Seattle (like me), you must live within shouting distance of a farmers' market. Mine is the Columbia City one, which alas only operates from spring to fall, but lots of the others (West Seattle, University District to name two) are open year-round.

If you don't have any luck at a farmers' market right now (though I'm betting you will), just be patient and wait until late spring. Things always taste better when they're in season, anyway. The stall at the Columbia City market that stocks stinging nettles, and lots of other good stuff, is called Foraged and Found Edibles, and they're there every year, starting some time in May.

    Buon appetito!
There is a shop in Pike Place Market...just north of Jack's Fish and across the alley from the Pink Door...it specializes in ethnic foods, specifically South American and Mexican, and maybe they would have what you're looking for. Sorry I don't know the name of the place.
You can find nettles just about anywhere during summer! I'm not sure where you can buy them, but they are nearly as prevalent as blackberries around here.

They grow about 3-5 feet tall in wooded areas, and are tall and slender with distinctive leaves, often found in patches. You'll also recognize them by the pain they inflict on bare skin!

To get rid of the stinging properties, be sure to cook them for at least 15-20 minutes. It's best to wear gloves when handling them.

Don't feel strange when you walk in, you'll be right at home two sips into the first drink. Let me put it this way...I ordered a double and they gave me a sidecar for the mixer 'cause there wasn't any room for it in the regular glass.
On the left-hand side you will see a great big thing of peanuts. Take a basket and grab some. Protein is good for you. Is there a certain percentage? How much should I estimate for Payroll taxes in Seattle WA?
You (or your payroll company) need to withhold 7.65% of your employee's pay toward FICA (social security and medicare).

As the employer, you have to match the amount with another 7.65% which comes out of your pocket, not out of their pay.

The total FICA taxes you pay will be 15.3% of the wages earned by your employees, with half of that coming out of their pay, and the other half coming from you.

contact the major hospitals here and speak with a coordinator to help refer you to a specfic doctor...you may try childrens hospital because they are more open to these things-all hospitals are a teaching place and often are accepting to interns....some other hospitals to check out are swedish medical center, harborview, valley medical center ( in renton, right outside of seattle) and you may just want to crack open a phone book and start calling private physicans if you hit a wall on resources....i know one thing you can check is to contact the employment boards of the hospital to see current job offerings/listings available- if you walk through valley they even have jobs posted on reader boards outside the HR department ..also if seattle is overcrowded for this type of internship remember there are also other local hospitals in Auburn-Auburn Medical Center , Federal Way-Saint Fransis (sp) and there are also a ton in/near the tacoma area..hope this helps point you in a good direction, sorry that i couldnt offer a specific doctor needing an intern...Good Luck and Best Wishes!!

What do you think of the Seattle Mariners so far this season?

The only team I have ever been a fan of is the Seattle Mariners. They were so good when I first started paying close attention to them (2000-2002.) Then they had some down years and weren't very fun to watch. Now the energy in Seattle is back and the club is using that energy to win games. I think they have a great team and it would be great to see them back in the postseason.

Do you think they have a shot at the wild card? Will the Angels slip and allow the M's to take the division? (I think they might have blown there chance there...) If the do make the postseason how far do you see them going and what would their pitching rotation look like? A lot of people thought they weren't for real but so far they have proved everyone wrong...

All thoughts appreciated. What do you think of the Seattle Mariners so far this season?
Great season for them so far, the talent is there and I am not surprised at all to see them win. Do I think they are a better team the the Yankees or Angels,? probably not. I do not think they have to starting pitching to compete on the World Series level yet and Felix although supremely talented has to step up and win big games for them. I think they are another starter away.
I'm imprerssed so far. They never had this type of year, as far as I can remember. What do you think of the Seattle Mariners so far this season?
I'm actually surprised at the year that they are having as nobody expected much form them at all this year. It's been a while since they've even had a chance at making th playoffs. So I'm pretty impressed with the job they've done this year.
Not much. With Oakland underachieving this year and Texas sucking as usual Seattle gets second place by default.

Being in a four team division has it's upsides.
They have played great. I even went to Safeco Field and watched them. They just ran into a tough opponent in their rivals the Angels. I am sure they are not out of this yet. There is still the wild card, too.

How much would an apartment in Seattle cost per month?

I'm looking into moving to Seattle. How much money would a one bedroom apartment with 900-1800 sq. ft. cost per month in Seattle, Bainbridge Island, or Bellevue? I would like one that is in good condition. I don't care how old it is, it just has to be a fairly nice one.How much would an apartment in Seattle cost per month?
$800 - $900 for something modest. $1200 for something nice and roomy.

This website will tell you everything you want to know about renting in this area.
Too much! I have found a one bedroom apartment in the areas you mentioned starts at about $800 a month. How much would an apartment in Seattle cost per month?
    about 300 grande lattes
I would shoot for around about $1000, just because you seem to be looking for a pretty large one-bedroom. I'm not sure for Bainbridge, as I've never looked for rentals there, but for Seattle and the Eastside, I'd definitely think around $1000+ for a large nice one-bedroom. Unfortunately, rents have been increasing all around here and have only been hit more by the fact that many apartments are converting to condos (thus further reducing apartment numbers).
I have a relative living in the area, but you`ll have to wait until I can call him. On Saturday I will answer. Looks like you got good answers already.

Seattle - Where is the best place for pinball and drinking?

Right now my spots for playing pinball and drinking in Seattle are limited to a few select spots. There have to be more! Can anyone suggest locations that have pinball and drinks in Seattle? The downtown, Capital Hill, Queen Anne areas are closest but all locations are welcome.Seattle - Where is the best place for pinball and drinking?
    Neighborhood: SODO
    1721 1st Avenue S
    Seattle, WA 98134
    (206) 264-2428

    3 main Points
    -pretty stiff drinks
    -peanuts
    -pinball

Don't feel strange when you walk in, you'll be right at home two sips into the first drink. Let me put it this way...I ordered a double and they gave me a sidecar for the mixer 'cause there wasn't any room for it in the regular glass.
On the left-hand side you will see a great big thing of peanuts. Take a basket and grab some. Protein is good for you. You can drop them anywhere on the floor (score!) and don't feel bad about it. Also a good thing to chuck at other annoying patrons or the person you are flirting with. Don't let the bartenders catch you.
PINBALL BABY! Three (or was it four?) pinball machines and three old late 80s-esque arcade games. YES MISS PAC MAN IS ONE OF THEM! The Twilight Zone pinball machine is especially awesome, though I noticed it became quite challenging after a double or two.

Don't forget to look up at the ceiling and ponder how all those dollar bills got stuck up there. Its a great story, ask an employee!Seattle - Where is the best place for pinball and drinking?
The obvious place is Shorty's in Belltown, though you've probably been there if you're a pinball fan. They have plenty of machines, but it is super dark and the machines are constantly breaking down. Beer is nice and cheap and they have hot dogs.

For a nice pinball experience, I would recommend Full Tilt Ice Cream in Columbia City. That's a little far from where you're looking but, unlike Shorty's, it's not a bar (though you can drink and they do sell beers there). The place is well lit and the machines are top notch, always working perfectly. Plus, they have Medieval Madness, which is my favorite machine by far! They are open til 10 most days, and late on Fridays and Saturdays. Also, their ice cream is absurdly delicious. The only bad thing is that if you go in the daytime, there tend to be many children there, but they never play the machines (they're there for the ice cream).

They have other locations (one is in the U-district, I'm pretty sure), but I've only been to the one in CC.

  • How much does it cost on average to live in a single bedroom apartment in Seattle, WA?

I will be moving to Seward Park, Seattle, WA in the next year, and I need to know if utilities are included in the rent of a single bedroom apartment. How much does it cost on average to live in a single bedroom apartment in Seattle, WA?
Whether utilities are included or not will depend on each individual apartment. Commonly water, sewer and garbage is included but electric and gas (if needed) is not.

You'll have to verify with each apartment you look at exactly what is included. How much does it cost on average to live in a single bedroom apartment in Seattle, WA?
You can check here, ask a few people before you move. You can not rent until you get on site, scams exist, so you you can get a pretty general idea before you move.

Typically utilities are in addition to the monthly rent on the apartment. I paid electric and internet when I lived on Capital Hill. Then again, I shared a bathroom! When I had my own house to rent, $1350 rent, $250 gas bimonthly in winter, $75 to heat water in summer. $150 for electric, bi-monthly. $85 for garbage, monthly. $45 high speed internet. That was a 3 bedroom house, so it might be half or a third of those figures for an apartment.

Will the victoria clipper service from victoria island to seattle be cancelled due to weather?

I am planning a trip to victoria this weekend and is intending to take the ferry from seattle? Will the pending winter storm cancel the ferry service and I will end up being stuck in victoria for the night? Will the victoria clipper service from victoria island to seattle be cancelled due to weather?
I took the clipper in the snowstorm last weekend with no issues.

However, Victoria isn't well prepared for snow and there was a LOT of stuff closed when I got up there and the wait for a cab was like 2-3 hours (we ended up renting a car.)

It was still a ton of fun but be prepared!
The weather is expected to be thawed out by the weekend. Why not take the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, spend some time in Port Angeles and Sequim, and drive the one hour trip to the Kingston Ferry which lands you in Edmonds? That will give you a much more interesting journey than just going directly to Seattle.

If you aren't driving, you can take Olympic Bus Lines at a very reasonable cost from Port Angeles or Sequim to either Kingston or Winslow, where you catch your ferry to either Edmonds or downtown Seattle.

It all works! Will the victoria clipper service from victoria island to seattle be cancelled due to weather?
    I doubt it.
