What is the best way to travel from Seattle to Anchorage and back if not flying? Ferries?

I'm looking for alternative means to travel from Seattle to Anchorage. Are there passenger boats/ferries? How expensive are they? How long do they take? What is the best way to travel from Seattle to Anchorage and back if not flying? Ferries?
Alaska ferry system info at the link below.

I've taken this trip, it's wonderful. As good a cruise, for less than a 1/4 of the money. Takes 4 days to get to Skagway, at least it did when I took the trip.
There are passenger ferries and they are relatively inexpensive. Rates would vary depending on if you would like a cabin, where you would be getting on/off, size of vehicle, etc. But the view...AMAZING!! Same passage as a cruise ship at a fraction of the cost. There aren't ferries that will bring you to Anchorage. I think it drops you off in Haines and then you have to drive.
