I don't know why you would want to avoid the southern route in the winter. But to choose the rest of the routes, probably I80 all the way to San Francisco and go north on I5 to Seattle. Anything other than the southern route will yield the possibility of snow and parts of the Interstate closed, especially I80 going over Donner Pass outside of Reno.

What is the better route to Seattle from Miami in the winter time avoiding the South route?
If someone ever did that trip please let me know if there is any alternate route to Seattle from Miami driving in the winter time without having to drive to much to the south like what is the better route in snow I70?I80?I90?
