I am a healthcare worker looking to live near my work (major hospital). Also I don't want to live in the inner city. I am looking for a nice quiet suburb area 200-350k homes w/ backyard.
When I get to seattle where should I start looking? In the suburbs of seattle where is it inexpensisive and safe to buy a home near a hospital?
Try north of Seattle, possibly around Stevens Hospital in Edmonds? You could possibly find a modest house around Edmonds/Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace area with a yard. It's a nice peaceful area relatively close to downtown Seattle (maybe 20-30 minutes drive [unless traffic]).
If you had been looking maybe 5yrs ago, your search would have been more successful. In recent years, housing prices have gone up, where it was once affordable for minorites and the working class. Areas around Cherry Hill, Madrona, and Capitol Hill, are now the homes to high medium and upper class people. People who actually work in Seattle cant really afford to live there. In the suburbs of seattle where is it inexpensisive and safe to buy a home near a hospital?
I recommend looking in Everett, particularly within a mile or two of downtown. I've seen homes for sale in that price range, including a duplex just a few blocks from the hospital. Providence Everett is a very well-respected medical center.
Probably better luck looking farther South...
Renton, Bellevue, Kent, Puyallup, Federal Way, Auburn.
