Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle? Free or cheap would be great. We are going there for a very full weekday of activities.Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle?
OMG OMG, I KNOW ONE!!!
I do...lol, sorry, my friend and I were on this very mission a couple of days ago. We just drove all over the place looking for the cheapest one, and we decided that the parking near the space needle was the cheapest. There is a good lot next to the music project building that is $8 for two hours, There is also like $20 for all day or something. But, it's a good spot because there are a lot of people around (less theft worries) and it's next to the monorail (which is $2, $4 both ways) which takes you right to Westlake Center.
If your going with a group, you can ask everyone to cough up an equal split for the parking, and it turns out to only be a couple of bucks for everybody. :)
Careful of the meters, because as soon as no-parking time hits, tow trucks and cops move in for the kill. The tow trucks line up down by pike and wait for the exact second, then they take half a block in one go. Just...beware of them.
Hope this helps :)
you just have to drive around for an hour until you find a good parking place.
i hate driving in western washington, especially on I-5. glad I don't live in WA anymore.Where is the best place to park in downtown Seattle?
You probably aren't going to find a free place to park, but there are a couple of things you can do to keep the cost down. Many of the large public parking garages have an early bird special - if you arrive before 9am you can park all day for one flat fee which is much cheaper than the hourly rate. Street parking is relatively inexpensive if you are only parked for a couple of hours or so and there is a limit to how long you can stay parked in one spot. Some of the unenclosed public parking lots are more affordable than the garages, too. But any way you go, you'll have to pay something.
Your best bet is to arrive early and get an early bird special for the day. The sign for the garage will specify if they offer one.
Nothing is free in Seattle, especially downtown. If you鈥檙e planning a full day of activities, use mass transit or a cab to get to the city. All day parking downtown can run $30 and up. When I need to have my car downtown, I park in the Bank of California building. I've never had a problem with damage or attempted break-in there. Street-side parking usually has a 2 hour limit so you鈥檇 have to come back to your car and move it or get a new parking permit. The further away from downtown you get, the less expensive parking is.
