What is the cost to file bankrupcy in seattle?

I've talked with 3 lawyers, and their fees rage from 1K-5K, paid upfront, before the court fees. I haven't any idea whom to go with. Anyone in Seattle dealt with this before? Can I file myself? I have a wage garnishment now. What is the cost to file bankrupcy in seattle?
You can file yourself however it's not advisable. The paperwork is lengthy and if you make a mistake, your bankruptcy will be dismissed. You will then have to wait 6 months to refile and in the interim, collectors may still pursue remedies, including garnishments.

The costs can vary, depending on whether you're filing Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. The filing fees are different and the costs for credit counseling can vary. Also the complexity of your financial situation can increase costs. In other words, there is no stock answer.

See if there is a legal aid or bankruptcy assistance program in your area that will help. Depending on your financial circumstances, you may qualify for low cost/no cost assistance in filing.
